Yoga bolsters – those cylindrical squishy pillows – are a perfect prop for use in all yoga, not just restorative classes.
Using props, including bolsters, often gives us that in-and-up lift (or yang energy) that's normally supplied by our own muscles, skeletal structure, and support system. That means we're more able to soften down (the yin energy), find heaviness, and deepen stretches, lengthen fascia, and promote deeper healing—the essence of slower, restorative-style sessions.
